Meet Emily Buss

Emily Buss represents Utah Senate District 11.

She lives in Eagle Mountain with her family and came to public service after working in business, nonprofit leadership, advocacy, and community service.

In December 2025, Emily won the Forward Party’s open preference poll to fill the vacant Senate District 11 seat. The process was open to registered voters across the district regardless of party affiliation. Emily was subsequently appointed to the Utah Senate and sworn into office on December 18, 2025. Before The Senate

Community came first.

Before serving in the Legislature, Emily built experience across business, nonprofit work, advocacy and community service.

She is the co-founder and executive director of Birthday Box Foundation, an organization created to help children celebrate their birthdays during difficult circumstances.

Her work in the community shaped her interest in public policy and the practical ways government decisions affect families.

Her Approach

Issue by issue. Vote by vote.

Emily is not a Republican or Democrat. She serves as a member of the Forward Party.

She believes elected officials should be able to consider each issue independently rather than treating party membership as an instruction on how to vote.

Her Senate votes are public, allowing District 11 residents to see where she has agreed with Republicans, where she has agreed with Democrats, and where lawmakers from both parties have worked together.
